UPDATING YOUR SITE

After you have built your web site you will most likely have to change text, pictures or other features throughout the year. Some web design companies will offer a feature to logon to their site and update your site yourself. There are also programs that allow you to update your site as well. However, if you're not HTML savvy or if you are not the one who built the site, it may not be a good idea to update it yourself. Here's why...
Many people will try to update their site themselves--everything seems to be going well...you've updated the information and now you're ready to publish the updates to your site on the internet. HOWEVER, when the publishing has completed you go to your web site to check out the changes and OH NO! for some reason you screwed up your site's design and/or layout. Perhaps there are objects running into one another: text is running into pictures or maybe pushing the pictures into the next row or something. If you don't know much about coding a web site, you're S.O.L. Don't waste time doing it yourself... use someone who knows what they're doing, if it's a web designer or someone in the office who knows all about coding and the web site's structure.
If you need any suggestions on decent "do it yourself" updating programs, hit me up... I also offer updating and maintenance services if you need to find a web designer who can help with your site.
