If you are planning on having your web site appear on the search engines, you'll need to have great "copy".  Copy is the body text of your web pages.  Copywriters, who are experts in marketing your business materials, create the copy for your web site.  This is a must!  Most small business owners may think that hiring a copywriter is too expensive, but you must consider that if your marketing materials are not professionally done, your results are going to suffer. Consider your web site as marketing material...you're going to need a marketing consultant who can get you those results.  Don't waste your time and money doing it wrong the first time... do it right... get a copywriter!
